Emily Dickinson (1830-1886): One of the most celebrated and influential American poets of all time. She wrote nearly 1800 poems, mostly in private and unpublished during her lifetime. She used unconventional punctuation, syntax, imagery, and themes to express her thoughts on life, death, nature, love, and faith.
